MGM expecting the interactive gaming license in Nevada

Once they obtain the license in Nevada, MGM is going to be a step closer towards the online gambling field. And if they do, they would become the part of what is supposed to be one of the lucrative industries of the modern world with the revenue figure expected to reach USD 10 billion annually from 2017. It is expected that this sector is going to attract younger players. At the same time, it will offer new avenues for the growth of the traditional operators, which might have faced the problem of stagnant growth over a considerable period of time.

At this moment, Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey are amongst the states, which have made a move or will be making a move towards internet gambling. This move comes following the declaration made by the US Justice Department in 2011. According to that, it was only the online sports betting, which was unlawful. This allowed states to make sure that most forms of internet gambling received a heads up from them.

If you consider the research conducted by the American Gaming Association, more than 80 nations have interactive gambling legalized there. And about USD 35 billion is generated from online betting itself on an annual basis. This amount has a high share contributed by millions, who play from US.

During an interview, Jim Murren, who is the CEO of MGM, said, “We have received encouragement from the fact that different states are right now talking with one another. Even though the legal frameworks and legislation might be unique for each state, their talks with others prove that there is an anticipation of the same compacting for multiple states.”
